I spent a very enjoyable day learning stone carving techniques at Henry and Tam’s studio on a Saturday carving course recently. Henry is a very knowledgeable teacher of his craft and has a relaxed teaching style.
We started by learning how to mark out our projects on the stone, then were introduced to the various chisels and tools needed to complete the carving. Henry showed us how to start the carving process, let us continue, then when we were ready for the next step he’d show us how, in logical steps, to carry on.
The atmosphere was very friendly, helped by a couple of tea and biscuit breaks and a longer dinner break with homemade soup, salad, olives, cheeses, etc. I will be trying another couple of lessons so I can expand my knowledge on the subject.

Day 1 in the Stone carving barn, nice friendly atmosphere, tea & coffee a plenty, great helpful instruction, without micromanagement.
In the rural countryside, with quaint country lanes and trees everywhere.
Thatched houses 🏘 it was like being a kid again, before everywhere got covered in concrete & bricks.
I would definitely recommend this place for a stone carving course, easily a 5 star 🌟 in my opinion.
